Nikolaus Pevsner lo describió como un “hacedor de época” debido a su “estándar de perspicacia y exactitud meticulosa” (Some Architectural Writers of the Nineteenth Century, 1972). Años después, David Watkin aseguró, nada menos, que fue probablemente el mejor historiador de arquitectura que Inglaterra haya producido (The Rise of Architectural History, 1980). Willis era un erudito victoriano, sabio y deslumbrante. |
