Sumario:Towards the end of the 1990s, thanks to social and human rights movements, remembrance actions were promoted in relation to the last period of state terrorism in Argentina, from which emerged (among other manifestations) different strategies for the spatialisation of collective memory. As part of these events, and thanks to the incentive of memory entrepreneurs, spaces and monuments are beginning to be built to commemorate what happened, at the same time as a movement for the recovery of former clandestine detention centres is being generated. Although today there is a large amount of research that addresses this issue from multiple disciplines, a dialogue between the field of memory studies and the praxis of design has not yet been developed. Our aim, therefore, is to put this dialogue into practice and understand how spaces of memory are conceived and materialised from a design approach in order, in a second instance, to consider whether those places in which the praxis of design is involved from their creation are more favourable to work on memory than the authentic sites where the events took place. Taking the Parque de la Memoria - Monumento a las Víctimas del Terrorismo de Estado and the Espacio Memoria y Derechos Humanos [ex ESMA] as a starting point, this thesis analyses the role of design in the configuration of spaces of memory, systematising their design stages. In this way, the aim is to arrive at a possible methodology that allows us to approach the co-design of spaces of memory.
