| description | The northern corridor of the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA), which stands along Vicente López and Tigre districts, has been widely transformed in the last thirty years due to the emergence of new residential typologies. Substantial efforts have been made to recognize the cultural, social, environmental and economic logics that drove them. However, the methods and management mechanisms -understood as focus of disputes have not always been examined in their own extent. \nWe intend to demonstrate that it is possible to recognize common rules in the ways in which residential property development was located and linked to the river. In addition, we intend to show that these recent changes in the north shore produced a tendency towards functional homogenization (in terms of land uses), an increase in physical discontinuity (in relation to building alignment, density and urban plan) and a decrease of spatial permeability (regarding to the materiality of the limits between private and public spaces), all within the strengthening of the urban regulations as a focus of dispute (particularly during urban land management). \nFrom this point of view, we drive this research at the intersection between structures, processes and spatial approximation methods. We understand that new residential typologies must be examined beyond the limits of the architectural object, and that recent changes must be understood as processes of transformation, persistence and resistance. |
